Services for 8th Graders
The 8th grade year is the last year for a student
to get on a solid academic footing before starting high school. College
Prep Counseling's consultations for 8th grade students and their
families consist of one family meeting, plus phone, email, or in-person consultations
during the rest of the year to answer questions and address any
concerns. The family meeting includes:
- advice on selection of prerequisite courses for a college preparatory high-school curriculum
- an overview of reading and writing proficiency requirements for a successful high-school career
- a review of student interests that can be developed in depth in the high-school years
- advice on PSAT and SAT test preparation through authentic long-term skill development
- a brainstorming of ideas for fun family summer activities that can enhance and encourage the student?
academic and extracurricular endeavors.
